We currently offer 10 residential placements, accomodating adults with a wide range of support needs. Our care and support practices are informed by our Camphill ethos, anthroposophy and social pedagogy.
Core Provision
Our core provision centres around providing the tools, facilities and support for each individual to achieve inner peace and contenment in their lives. We support people in gaining conficence in their own capabilities and skills by empowering them to take on new challenges and try new things. We offer the structure of a stable routine reduce anxiety. As many of our co-workers live on site, Tigh a’Chomainn has a familial atmosphere and everyone works, eats, and lives along side eachother on equal terms. We strive for everyone to feel like a citizen in their comminity so we hold regular community meetings where individuals have a chance to be heard and give their input into community matters.
Social, Cultural and Leisure Support
We support people in maintaining regular contact and relationships with their friends and family. We prioritise each individuals interests and wnats and support them in partaking in activities like going to the gym, church, cinema, etc. We also support people in going on holidays and day trips, making sure there is sufficient staff assistance where required. We help people navigate time through daily, weekly and seasonal rhythms of festival celebrations and occasions to socialise. We encourage individuals to have their own agency and feel responsible for planning, baking/cooking, purchasing, etc. We also provide regular opportunities for people to showcase their work and have pride in their work.
Care and Support
We provide regular one on one time and support individuals needs in all aspects of life. This includes: supporting skills development including essential life skills through sharing household tasks, providing personal care, supporting access to various medical appointments, providing a safety net for positive risk taking and helping people achieve their goals one step at a time, supporting people with their finances as suits their needs while safeguarding their money, working on building relationships built on trust and mutual respect, supporting both independance and interdependance as well as providing support and care as per the specific requirements of each individual as not every person will benefit from the same approach.
