Policy on health and safety
(Incorporating Management of Risk)
• Tigh a’Chomainn Camphill Ltd recognises and accepts its responsibilities to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all those people resident within the Community; and to protect, so far as is reasonably practicable, any other persons who could be affected by their activities, namely: employees, volunteers, visitors, contractors and the general public.
• Tigh a’Chomainn recognises its duty to provide, maintain and supervise its activities, equipment, processes and systems of work to ensure health and safety standards at work are achieved.
• Each co-worker, resident and employee shall be provided with sufficient information, instruction, training and supervision to enable them to proceed in their daily tasks/living situation in a safe manner.
• Tigh a’Chomainn recognises the value of raising peoples’ awareness of health and safety issues and promotes/encourages discussion with residents, employees and any others concerned with the well-being of the Community and its individual members.
• It is the policy of Tigh a’Chomainn to make regular informal and annual formal risk assessments and to review and revise the controls as and when necessary.
• All senior co-workers consider themselves responsible for managing health and safety issues at Tigh a’Chomainn.
• All co-workers and employees are responsible for making themselves familiar with and following health and safety policies and procedures; and for bringing to the attention of colleagues any hazards or difficulties that might be detrimental to health and safety.
• It is the policy of Tigh a’Chomainn to record accidents and incidents and to inform others in accordance with the requirements of legislation and regulation.
• As far as possible, residents take part in the discussion, formulation and review of their own personal risk assessments at least annually.
