Guidelines for outings
These guidelines are for the use of co-workers who are responsible for arranging and/or supervising outings with residents from Tigh a’Chomainn. They prompt co-workers to think about how to make an outing safe and enjoyable for all participants. They apply to any activity outside the house, such as trips to town for shopping and entertainment, country walks, and visits to fairs and other events.
Before you go out:
• Be clear about who is going, where you are going, and what activities are planned.
• Based on your previous experience and common sense, consider what difficulties could arise during the outing.
• Make sure that there will be enough co-workers to supervise and ensure the safety of residents.
• Make sure that co-workers who are not going on the outing know who is going where, and when to expect you back.
• Take a mobile phone with contact numbers for Tigh a'Chomainn (landlines and mobiles), senior co-workers, hospital, taxi and Council members.
